Today I’ve tried to get a message across with an image and with words. This is a picture of the bridleway where it goes under a road bridge in Sandwell Valley Country Park. (more…)
The photo today is one I took in Sandwell Valley last Sunday. The car park at Forge Mill Farm was quite full. Many of the visitors who visit the farm and lake aren’t British. Perhaps they appreciate the English Countryside more? (more…)
The Black Country isn’t known for beautiful landscapes, but I only had to go about a mile and a half to take this photo. I added a border and title with PhotoScape. The winter colours were interesting with the sun quite low. (more…)
I’ve been doing more creative editing this week with PhotoScape. I like combining words and pictures and doing unusual things. Here I’ve combined my photo of this bridge with a perforated ‘stamp’ border and added a word to describe the image. It’s different!
Last weekend I took this photo in a park. The UK has lots of parks and nature reserves and so there are lots of picnic areas. Going somewhere and perhaps taking a picnic blanket, food and drink and even a small radio for a little music; could make for a nice afternoon out. Others might go shopping and take advantage of the sales on this weekend. You’ll find those bargains on Monday.
I went to Sandwell Valley on Sunday afternoon. It was windy as a storm was coming in. It was my second choice, I intended to photograph the historic vehicle show, but I was late for that and then my car battery was flat and i had to charge it for an hour. So I ended up here. I have decided to do a collection of river and canal pictures for a competition and maybe a summer exhibition.
The Birmingham Black Country half marathon was run yeserday morning. They were running down the tow path of the canal. It was a time trial, it’s a bit difficult to run a marathon on a tow path; not too much room to spread out. Someone went in the canal last time trying to overtake! The run went through Sheepwash nature reserve past the balancing lake. At least it’s a bit scenic and a pub at the finish line… (more…)
Neodigital Art is about editing pictures to create something with emotion. I was quite annoyed when I took this photo, because the sun had gone behind a black cloud. I’ve used colorize in PhotoScape for an artistic edit. What do you think? (more…)
The photo today is of the River Tame in Sandwell Valley Country Park. I’m not sure where I’ll go today. I want to go somewhere, because the weather forecast is good. At Walsall it’s the Caldmore Village Festival in Palfrey Park. I was going to photograph that last year, but the weather wasn’t very good.
Yes, it’s Bank Holiday weekend again and the kids are off school for Whitsun. The Ikea sale will start on Monday and the stupid people will queue along the M6 for that. If you have to go to the Ikea sale; go next week, it runs until June 23rd.
The river in the picture is the River Tame. This photo was taken last May, but I drove past there yesterday and the flowers are just starting to bloom again. They seem to grow all along the Tame, I’ve seen them at Walsall and Dudley.
This must be my best picture so far in 2013. The angle of the shot is unusual and I think it looks good in grey scale. I did my usual editing and removed a council litter bin, then changed it to grey scale. I did crop quite a lot of the original too.
I’ve started today with a photo of Forge Mill Farm, I went there on Easter Sunday. It was cold! There is still some snow about and so I had to wrap up warm and try to cope with the poor light.
Yes, it’s the vernal equinox today, it begins at 11:02 in the UK. The picture is of Dartmouth golf course at the top of Sandwell Valley. Half of Sandwell Valley is golf courses for private members. That is a huge amount of land for the exclusive use of the privileged few. It’s good for mental health to get out there and experience nature. It is something we need to preserve and value. (more…)
I managed to take a few photographs on Sunday, it was cold, but at least the rain stopped. This one was into the sun, but it looked a good shot at the time.
Today’s picture is of Forge Mill Lake in Sandwell Valley. I hoped to go out and take a few photographs this weekend, but the weather today doesn’t look too promising. My neighbours firework displays weren’t worth photographing last night either. I think I might go shopping…
I’ve been thinking about which pictures I would use if I was offered an exhibition in an art gallery. What do you think of this one? Would you want to see it in your local gallery? (more…)
At this time of year I like to record the changing colours as the seasons change. We’re are month into Autumn in England and so I expect all the colours of nature to change as winter approaches. You can see the colours better, when we have better light. In this picture you can see the first signs of winter colours.
I’ve been blogging on WordPress for over 2 years now. Many people blog about their lives, some bloggers have a genre. I write about anything and everything. I do have certain subjects for certain days though. On a Sunday, I just ramble on and don’t bother with research; that makes these blogs the most popular!
I saw a council estate on TV last week where there was a lot of poverty and drug taking. The problems weren’t just lack of money, there was also a lack of nature. It needed green fields and they need trees to be planted. I also see lots of speed humps and traffic calming on the worst estates too.
I went to Walsall new art gallery this week, searching for inspiration. That dead sheep encased in formaldehyde was the main exhibit in the Damien Hirst exhibition. There was some works from more conventional artists too.
As I write this I can see blue skies and sunshine. It wasn’t like that when we went out to take photographs on Sunday, it was dull and cloudy. It looks nice today, but the wind is a cold Arctic wind. I might still try to take a few photographs later. This picture is after I did the edit, take a look at the before picture, very dull.
