A Sunday ramble in June…

Neodigital - a pool makes a good subject

I couldn’t decide on a photograph to begin this blog with. This one isn’t very exciting, but it is a favourite place to take photographs. I held the camera close to the water and took a few shots last time and the pictures are too dark but it made the waves look huge! I am waiting for a quiet day, perhaps a Sunday and good light. I have a quiet day but like on the day I took this photograph, it’s cloudy.

In the news this week was exploding alarm clocks and killer cucumbers, I blogged about that and  yesterday I mentioned the story of the Russian Army eating dog food in my Derby Day blog. Other news out of Russia was a bizarre story of a computer programmer who thought it would be lucky to be buried alive! His friend buried him with a bottle of water, mobile phone and a few essentials. It is thought that rain got into his breathing tubes over night and he was found dead next morning; not so lucky after all. In other news a kid in China was reported to have sold his kidney and got a laptop computer and an IPhone for it.

Neodigital Art

I am trying to post an update to my Neodigital Art blogs once a week and add some pictures to the  blogs. The latest one is update number eight and the pictures are making my home page look more professional. You can find a lot more blogs on the home page and there is a lot of humour this week.

There is a lot of interest in blogging, but many bloggers have given up because the competition is quite strong. I read some blogs and the bloggers can’t really use word craft to get across what they want to say. In some cases they seem to have very little to say! I try to make my blogs informative, entertaining and amusing! The best platform seems to be WordPress and you can either use or get WordPress to go on you own web space as a content management system. The other site is Blogspot that people choose because it’s easy to put advertising on and make a few quid; I don’t recommend it. If you want to make money put WordPress on you own web space with a little advertising and preferably not Google.

Sad smile

Hospital Appointment

I have a hospital appointment in few weeks, I’ll try to take a photograph of the new hospital. It is really good but they are still building it! It cost close on £400 million. I read today that a new Royal Navy destroyer cost over a billion; the price of three super – hospitals and it still doesn’t have working missile systems. With the Euro-fighters said to cost over £100 million each, it makes you wonder if we need to spend that much on defence? I also read that the security services did a little hacking and messed up a Al Qaeda PDF promoting terrorism – that was presumably cheaper. Maybe, the internet is the future of war and conflict? We need national security but maybe we can do it in a smarter way and stop trying to police the world?

This blog isn’t very amusing, I’ll try to do better tomorrow; inspire me with comments. You can also share with your friends by clicking the ‘share’ button or follow me on Twitter even!

  1. Hey Mike,
I found your stuff today interesting, and the opening photo was a Knock Out!

But,then, I appreciate your humor and your take on the world. Too bad about the buried boy. You didn’t give an age, did you? I just read yesterday about the undeveloped part of the brain in young folks, and that’s why they don’t think things through AND consequently make stupid decisions.

  2. I think the computer programmer in Russia was in his 20’s. I had a lot of photos like that one; I suppose others appreciate them more than me. I was there an hour ago; it was raining and so no photo, but it actually looked better! I read that young people take risks because of something to do with proving they can and they are spurred on by raging hormones! I think you have a new website – I’ll check it out! 🙂

Your talent lies in taking photos, which is not something I am great at. I, at least try. I wanted to thank you for stopping by my blog. I also have a wordpress site but it looks like a blog. I use justhost but 1 + 1 (i believe) is the cheaper one. It’s on something I know tons about in IL
My advice is to watch U Tube videos on and such. You have a delightful blog here.

  5. Thanks Jackie,

The photos look good because I alter them slightly (or a lot) with Live photo editor. Finding a good subject can be difficult and getting good light has been hard just lately.

I don’t need help with divorce, one problem I don’t have. I never married! 🙂

I’ll check out Youtube videos on I looked at their tutorials and they were useful. I still have a way to go to find out about plug ins and analytics.

  6. Hi Mike, I always enjoy your blogs, no matter what the subject. But I especially like the tips and tricks, photography and Farmville! I never thought about getting close to the water to make the waves look bigger. Makes sense though.

A professional photographer friend of mine told me to get down to the level of children when you are trying to take their pictures. That was very helpful too. None of these things come easily to me. I don’t know why.

Thanks for sharing your expertise with us!

  7. Yes, go down to the level of children. Taking pictures from unusual angles helps. The header picture of the canal is taken from high up on a bridge looking down. I got a bit of vertigo when I looked down! 🙂

  8. Enjoyed the information Mike, great way to cover a lot of different topics.

Love the photo, really beautiful place. Wish I had such talent.

Ah those bloggers… Why do people give up so easily? Let them blog about whatever they want. If they are in this to make money then learn how to do it correctly. Or just share with the rest of us what makes them tick. Trust me, they will find plenty of people to listen. I enjoy visiting different kinds of blogs because it’s nice to read and learn about different things.

Hope you’ve been having an enjoyable day!

    Best to you,

  9. Hi Adrienne,

Thanks, I had good light today and so got some good photos; blues skies…

  10. Mike,

I like your blog and love the picture. You do a really good job of photography.

I really like how you cover several different subjects.

The story about the Russian computer programmer is quite interesting. It is amazing what people will think to do without giving thought to what might go wrong or safety. Being buried alive is not for me.

Good luck with your photography. I look forward to seeing more.

  11. Hi Dee Ann,

I like odd news and I’m disappointed this morning because I haven’t come across any! I have got some nice photos though, the sky was blue and we had good light yesterday. I liked the exploding alarm clocks and killer cucumbers stories, manly because I got those while they were still very new. The one about the Russian army being fed dog food gave me a funny blog too!
