Neodigital Art | Update 22

It took an hour to edit this picture of a pair of gates and I used Photoshop Elements, I’m not that pleased with it. It is a complex program though and so with practice I could get better using it. I’m using the 30 day trial and so have to decide whether to buy it. I can get a 20% discount on the full price!

This picture looks nice, but again I used PhotoShop and I’m not that happy with the result. This is a pool, not quite big enough to be a lake! This is surrounded by heathland which is quite unusual here now, there aren’t many heaths left.

This is a picture of a simple path and I edited it in 2 minutes using Windows Live Photo gallery. I like the effect, even the chain link fence looks good.

This picture is unusual and it needed more depth really. The towers are floodlights that light up a railway station and goods yard. The clouds give the picture some depth as they go into the distance. Autumn is starting in England and so it will be harder to take photographs through Autumn and the winter. We will have lots of new colours in Autumn as the green of summer starts to turn brown and red in Autumn; nature constantly changes. My ‘enchanted’ pictures would probably be even more so if  returned to those woods to take the photographs again in the same place.

  1. Hi Mike, I have to agree with you. For your pictures, I like the Windows Live effects much better. Photoshop Elements make the pictures seem fake somehow. I think its effects detract from your enormous talent.

But I really appreciate your showing us the differences so we appreciate the beauty of your photos all the more.

My favorite photo today is the picture of the path. I love the depth and the contrast between the picket fence and the chain link fence. Brilliant.

I also appreciate your explanations. They really help me to understand photography. Well done!

  2. I think Photoshop can make pictures too good, I dislike pictures of people where very line has been erased. Often you can’t improve on nature. I shall play with Photoshop a little more, but not alter the pictures too much. I might try taking graffiti out of some pictures!

    Thanks for visiting, 🙂

Hey Mike…nice pictures…I agree though that pictures that appear perfect aalso seem fake to some extent. But I enjoy how I can appreciate nature with imperfection!!!

    • Hi Neha,

I think it helps to edit pictures. I often have light shining on the lens and that mutes the colours. I think I over edit sometimes and get a more boring picture. I entered my woodland pictures in the photographic contest because they were different. That’s what I look for, something different and unusual.

      Thanks for visiting.
