Thrifty Thursday: Black Friday

The Aldi super-six this week are tomatoes (6), chantenay carrots (500g), savoy cabbage, lemons (3), swede and onions (1 Kg). They are all 49p each. Those are on offer until next Thursday.

Today’s Aldi special buys include an LED TV and DVD combi for 129.99 and an acoustic guitar for 34.99. Lots of toys today too and hair and foot care items. There is lots of bedding too in today’s special buys.

The Sunday special buys are even more varied, with everything from an electric drill to a dart board. Maybe some Christmas gift ideas there?

There are special buys next Wednesday with hams and cheeses for Christmas.

Tomorrow is Black Friday and many stores will be putting offers on for the event. This is an American idea of course, it’s Thanksgiving in America today. Amazon have deals all week for a limited time.  There are odd bargains, but many of the offers were overpriced before the deal.  Matalan have lots of offers and they are doing coupons in newspapers for £5 off when you spend £25, £10 off when you spend £50 and £15 off when you spend £75. The small print says you need a Matalan card. I bought some long sleeved tee shirts from Matalan and they are great as a base layer when it’s cold with a thick cardigan on top.

Currys have lots of Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals. They have been advertising the Nikon D3200 on TV. The 55mm lens that goes with it isn’t very good. I would buy the camera without the lens and then get a 18 – 105mm lens or a 18 – 200mm lens to go with the camera. Asda is joining in with a Black Friday event. That is in store only and I suspect many of the things will only be in the larger superstores, like the 40” Polaroid television for £139. Tesco have 25% off clothing until midnight on Monday. I think they have more Black Friday offers in store. Again the bigger stores probably have more offers. B&Q have in-store offers tomorrow too. I suspect they have more offers than are shown on the website. Argos is also joining in the Black Friday fun and giving away 5 and 10 pound vouchers when you spend £50 or £100 respectively.

Other stores with Black Friday offers include John Lewis who are opening early at 8am and Sainsbury’s.

I’ll be looking around a craft market tomorrow and taking photos at the official Christmas lights switch-on. I’m watching the weather forecast now, the Wolverhampton switch-on had fireworks that no one could see because of the fog!

Have you seen any bargains? please share them in the comment box. You can also follow me on Twitter. I have a data allowance on my phone, so I’ll try and tweet when I’m out and about tomorrow…
