The Wednesbury Oak Loop

This canal was built to meander through the Black Country and provide access to various coal mines. It was built in 1770 by James Brindley. The canal was built to carry goods from the mines and factories. Later railways were built and they too went directly into factories. I remember seeing the trains looking out of my bedroom window as a child. The trains ran through the Cadbury factory in Bourneville, Birmingham too. These days Wednesbury and the whole of the Black Country appears to be suffering from a inferiority complex. (more…)

Thrifty Thursday 3

Art gallery and museum

The picture I have used is of my local Art gallery and museum. It’s free to go in and besides art there is lots of exhibits relating to local history. The same department on the council runs other museums and historic houses. You can’t get more thrifty than free for a day out! (more…)


My Exhibition

Victorian Art Gallery

If you have been following my Neodigital Art blogs, you will know that it is an art form based on photography and the finished images can be printed out for an exhibition or they can be uploaded to a server to be viewed online. When I thought about an exhibition, I thought about my local art gallery. It’s a traditional Victorian building and has the grandeur that the Victorians were so fond of creating. (more…)
