Bank Holiday events #review
Today’s picture is of ‘West Bromwich’ Manor House. There is a re-enactment on there today of an American Civil War battle. It is bank holiday in the UK and so there will be lots of events to go to and for me to photograph. (more…)
Another week ends
Another weeks draw to a close and we have a Bank Holiday weekend to enjoy. I didn’t have a good week really. Remember that ‘Direct Debit’ guarantee? They aren’t supposed to just take money from our bank accounts without telling us, are they?
What to do this Bank Holiday weekend
Last weekend I took this photo in a park. The UK has lots of parks and nature reserves and so there are lots of picnic areas. Going somewhere and perhaps taking a picnic blanket, food and drink and even a small radio for a little music; could make for a nice afternoon out. Others might go shopping and take advantage of the sales on this weekend. You’ll find those bargains on Monday.
Thrifty Thursday | Beating the price rises
The Aldi super-six this week are carrots (1kg), broccoli (335g), spring onions, little gem lettuce (2), radish (200g) and tomatoes (6). They are all 39p each and that’s the same as last week. I’m not sure when that offer ends, it could be today. Check out the Thursday special buys too, they have some useful garden stuff. (more…)
Bank holiday blues
Yes, it’s Bank Holiday weekend again and the kids are off school for Whitsun. The Ikea sale will start on Monday and the stupid people will queue along the M6 for that. If you have to go to the Ikea sale; go next week, it runs until June 23rd.
Thrifty Thursday | Bargains for the bank holiday
The Aldi super-six this week are celery, cucumbers, lemons (3), spring onions, tomatoes (6) and garlic (4). They are all 49p each. They haven’t changed from last week, but their website has. There is a lot more on there.
Reflections on life
Sometimes, I think as a society we take one step forward and two steps backwards. There are lots of experiments that seem to fail. The big pink box on West Bromwich High Street is still referred to as ‘iconic’, but in reality it’s a failed experiment. They intend to use it as a sixth form college now. (more…)
