I’ve used a summer picture to begin today’s post; we need something to cheer us up. In the Guardian this week was news that councils in London are planning to move thousands of ‘poor’ people out of London, because they won’t be able afford the rents when housing benefit is cut. Are we surprised? People are caught between the Labour councils with their empire building and the rich Tory tax dodgers who want to have London, just for the rich.
We hear a lot about so called ‘safe havens’ for investment funds. The United States was a ‘safe haven’ for many US investors and the UK has seemed a safe investment for many funds compared to Europe. It’s not just Government bonds that are seen as ‘safe havens’ by investment fund managers, but blue chip shares too.
My bargain this week comes from this website and can save you up to £25 when you spend £80 at Matalan. I found some stuff I wanted but the jeans were out of stock in my size. Remember too they have really good home ware stuff as well as clothes. I like the Easy brand in the clothes and you can’t have enough tee shirts. The Pierre Cardin boxer shorts are 2 for £10, with the discount off they are a really good buy. Last time I was in Matalan I bought rice bowls for a pound each. They have bargains on hats and sunglasses too. I want a linen hat from there. (more…)
I took this photo last evening, those are dark clouds; I still appreciated it was a nice scene. That is what it’s about; appreciation. I was about 2 miles from home and so didn’t have go far to get a reasonable photograph. I uploaded it to Facebook later and a friend liked it; she lives in Europe and is surrounded, I would have thought, by beautiful scenery. (more…)
