It’s not very warm this morning in the heart of England. I suppose this is good news for the energy companies who will fleece us again this winter. Maybe, the new governor of the Bank of England can bring some pressure to bear on the water companies and energy companies to keep bills down this winter.
“Wealthy elderly people who do not need benefit payments to help with fuel bills or free travel should voluntarily return the money to the authorities, the work and pensions secretary says.” (BBC News) I don’t know. Buckingham Palace is a big place to keep warm, they need their winter fuel payments. They hardly use their bus passes anyway…
What can I write about today? I can always moan about something…. I was reminded of buying my first computer in the 1980’s this morning. I learned how to use a word processor and I learnt some B.A.S.I.C programming. Remember B.A.S.I.C? Then Windows came out and it all got complicated… (more…)
The Bank Holiday weekend was a bit of a wash out in the UK. But the flag wavers were out in London yesterday. The weather forecast for today is a little better. They have promised sunshine for this afternoon. We had record rain in April and then summer weather in May. It makes it interesting when it’s so unpredictable. My blogs have been inspired by the weather and so too is my photography. I’ve written a psychology blog on a Zillion Ideas today. What does your behaviour say about you? In my first ‘How to make your first Million’ blog, I said you need to understand the nature of money and that the paper stuff goes down in value. This is because they keep printing the stuff! That gold sovereign in the picture however, goes up in value. I know, I know, gold is going to drop in price any minute and I should sell and invest in shares! It dropped a little last week and then went up yet again, people said sell at $1,000 a ounce, $1,500 an ounce and we are on our way to $2,000 an ounce! When interest rates rise and they are higher than inflation, then I would think; maybe, that selling is a good idea. (more…)
