I took this picture of the Milky yesterday, in bright sunlight. It’s not one of my better photographs. You can see how the colours are changing through Autumn though, they are slowly getting lighter.
Photons are little bundles of energy that we call light. They come from the sun (when we aren’t making our own), bounce around and get reflected off everything. They bounce around rather like a ball bounces off different surfaces, some surfaces make a ball bounce fast if it’s hard, soft surfaces slow it down. Light gets absorbed by dark colours and reflected more by light colours. You can see where it is being reflected most in this picture, by the lighter colours. I was trying to get my printer/scanner working the other day and scanned this picture. This is an old picture, but it shows that you can do something interesting with a scanner. I used to play on that field as a child! The land and the road was actually on fire because of the coal and gas underneath. The coal has since been removed and there is a sports field and new houses there now. That row of little workers houses is still there! (more…)
Finding something to photograph on a cold wet Monday is challenging to say the least. My main problem taking this photo was trying to get it level; that and keeping the rain off the camera and trying not to freeze to death. I edited the photo a little to add a little colour to the foreground. You can also take colour away to set a mood… (more…)
