
I have a hospital appointment in 2 weeks. I’ll have to pay £1 for every 30 minutes to park my car. Before the charges were introduced, I couldn’t get a parking space, people parked and went to lunch. I can park now and so the parking charge is a good thing. Right?

I saw a council estate on TV last week where there was a lot of poverty and drug taking. The problems weren’t just lack of money, there was also a lack of nature. It needed green fields and they need trees to be planted. I also see lots of speed humps and traffic calming on the worst estates too.

When I look at town centre shops, I see charity shops, pawn brokers and pay day loans. Then there are discount stores like Poundland. I also see some signs of wealth in this photo, some posh shops and expensive take-away food. I also see a pedestrian area that must have cost a fortune to lay out. The blue signs of the local council are evident everywhere. The top council officers and the top councillors probably don’t use the charity shops. Do they?
