I watched Nick and Margaret| We all Pay Your Benefits on the BBC last night. The programme seemed to look at common misconceptions about unemployment and benefits that are spread by newspapers like the Sun and the Daily Mail. I picked up a copy of the Daily Mail in the hospital waiting room yesterday. It was absolute rubbish, but people believe that propaganda.
The town that I live in used to be run by the town clerk from the town hall. Now we have a new civic centre miles away, they didn’t even put it in a central location. Social Housing used to be council housing and people paid their rent and that included rates, water rates and sewage. (more…)
What can I write about today? I can always moan about something…. I was reminded of buying my first computer in the 1980’s this morning. I learned how to use a word processor and I learnt some B.A.S.I.C programming. Remember B.A.S.I.C? Then Windows came out and it all got complicated… (more…)
It doesn’t seem like Sunday today for some reason. I usually write my blog as lunch is cooking, but I’m late today; lunch is well and truly over. We do tend to be creatures of habit. We even drive habitually, not thinking about it too much. So I think Damon Hill has a point when he objects to the speed limit on motorways being raised to 80 MPH. People are half asleep much of the time and don’t realise the dangers for the rest of the time. I think it could be raised to 80 if it was strictly enforced but some idiot would want to do 90 or 100 or even faster. I think some changes should be made to all roads. (more…)
The Bank of England says it saved us from a double dip recession with quantitative easing, so why are things still stagnating? Have they really fixed anything or are they trying to inflate their way out of the problem of massive debts? We still appear to be suffering from higher prices, higher unemployment, higher energy and housing costs, crippling taxation and on top of that we have David Cameron running the country! (more…)

It’s Daylight Robbery!
You have heard the term ‘it’s daylight robbery’ but where does it come from? I will explain! You may remember the dreamless ones are stupid because they are genetically descended from Neanderthals and they keep altering the clocks trying to save ‘daylight’. Anyway, way back in 1696 the King of England introduced a window tax. This was a very fair tax. (more…)
