This time last year, I was driving through floods. The floods weren’t too bad in the Black Country, but the River Tame did flood in places. In winter you can still get interesting pictures. Bare landscapes with trees stripped of their leaves can look quite spectacular in the winter sunshine. (more…)
In the old days of film photography, any post shoot editing was done by a technician in the processing lab. Now we can do our own editing on the computer. Editing has become as much a skill as the photography with every laughter line getting edited out of portrait photography! (more…)
This is the time of year when you can dig out the snow pictures and edit them for Christmas messages and effects. These edited pictures can make your Facebook Timeline look cool or if you have a blog, you can change to a Christmas header. (more…)
I took this photo in the summer of 2013 and then edited it with PhotoScape for an artistic picture. I had it printed on a 30 inches wide canvas last year for a Christmas present. I use Windows Photo Gallery for a lot of editing and PhotoScape for the more artistic edits. (more…)
I took this photo in January out of the window. I was warm, but these guys on the horse and cart were freezing. I’ve edited it by converting the colour picture to sepia and I blurred the background a little more to highlight the subject. (more…)
This image is quite artistic, but not very complicated to create. I have bought a new speedlight (flash) and so I tried it out to see if it would provide some fill in light on these leaves. I lost a few of my pictures when my computer crashed, so I don’t have so many new pictures to choose from this week. The weather hasn’t been very good, but I have managed to take a few autumn photos. I have used the gradient border to make some photos look more artistic. Here I’ve used it to obscure some houses on the right of the picture, you can use that gradient on either side.
The weather tends to be dark and dismal now and so I did some edits on Sunday because I couldn’t have my usual day out. How does this edit compare to the original. The original was a nice photo and more colourful, but this is artistic and I think the frame and the text adds something.
I took this picture in a park and it’s not very interesting. The important thing, with a lot of nature pictures in parks and woodland is the separation of the different colours. Most of the picture can be different shades of green, so you need the difference to show, rather than all blend in together.
This is a photo that Simon James took on the Norfolk Broads (England) some time ago. I’ve edited it and the main thing was to add contrast. Simon often zooms in too close to the subject, but he has it about right with this photo. (more…)
