The Sunday Ramble: expressions
I went to the Manor Hospital in Walsall on Friday to photograph the switch-on of the Christmas lights. The switch-on was performed by Noddy Holder of Slade fame and 5 year old Jayden Webster a young patient with a broken leg. (more…)
I photographed the Midland Metro yesterday, that was a grandiose scheme meant to bring wealth to Birmingham and the Black Country. They want to extend it to Merry Hill, another grandiose scheme that started with a tax free enterprise zone. They always want grandiose and iconic schemes. (more…)
OMG! The Bullingdon Boys are in Beijing!
Yes, the Bullingdon Club boys, George Osborne and his mate Boris Johnson have been dispatched to Beijing to get investment for Britain. My apologies for linking the Bullingdon word to the Daily Mail, but like George and Boris I was desperate. The picture is good isn’t it? Notice the big gun on the top of that boat!
Inspiration and motivation
You might remember my Christmas story that I wrote at the end of last year. I was talking to my friend in California using Skype this morning and she suggested that I write a summer sequel. It’s not a bad idea. I’m inspired! We all need inspiration and motivation to do anything. Money seems to be the only motivation that many people seem to need and a lot of it!
The farce is strong
George Osborne is claiming that it was his influence that is bringing Lucasfilm to the UK to make another episode of Star Wars. The Downing Street farce is strong and they’re bringing the film over to the dark side. (more…)
A Englishmans home is his castle
Today’s picture is of the Manor House, West Bromwich, which has a St George’s Day Family Fun Day on today. There will also be a big St George’s Day parade in Stone Cross tomorrow.
Spring in the heart of England
Today’s photo is of Spring. No, not this Spring! This was last Spring, the sun was shining and the River Tame was lined with millions of flowers! There were bluebells in the woods, blossom on the trees and it was Spring. What do we have this year?
It’s the Spring equinox on Wednesday and so there is something to look forward to. A lot of people are dreading the future though with new Housing Benefit rules about to make life very difficult for many of the poorest members of society. These are people whose children have perhaps left home or who have a child away from home at university.
The mid-week Moan
What can I write about today? I can always moan about something…. I was reminded of buying my first computer in the 1980’s this morning. I learned how to use a word processor and I learnt some B.A.S.I.C programming. Remember B.A.S.I.C? Then Windows came out and it all got complicated… (more…)
Sunday thoughts of sunshine
This week George Osborne told the world that the government wants to sell it’s shares in Royal Bank of Scotland, signalling intent to dump billion of pounds worth on the stock market. This was done to coincide with the bank announcing huge ‘paper’ losses. Not surprisingly the banks share price tanked on the stock market and so did Lloyd’s Banking Group. Well done George…
This weeks blogging review
The snow has kept on coming this week and at the time of writing, I’m expecting more. We do expect the weather to improve over the weekend though. I noticed a patch on my roof where the snow is melting, it’s over the hatch to the loft which isn’t insulated. Heat’s escaping! Have you looked at your roof?
Learning from history
I’ve used one of my pictures of the full moon today. Sometimes I think the loonies have taken over the world. Then I look back at history and realise they have always been in charge. I watched the Second World War in colour last night on YouTube. The depression of the 1930’s led to world war.
Nightmares or just dreams?
I’ve used a photograph from the summer to start today’s post. We did have one or two sunny days, in between the rain. I went to Matalan this week and bought an umbrella amongst other things. You will notice that it hasn’t rained since. It’s cold but sunny today, I must remember never to buy sunglasses from Matalan…
