
You might remember my Christmas story that I wrote at the end of last year. I was talking to my friend in California using Skype this morning and she suggested that I write a summer sequel. It’s not a bad idea. I’m inspired! We all need inspiration and motivation to do anything. Money seems to be the only motivation that many people seem to need and a lot of it!

People will often behave out of character because they are desperate. Desperation can drive us to commit crime; even murder. Desperation is feeling we can no longer tolerate our situation. We not only want to change how we feel; we need to change how we are feeling. We need to stop the pain. It might be physical pain, but often it’s psychological pain.

My blog today on a Zillion Ideas is a psychology blog about what motivates us to do the things we do. We tend to be motivated by the fairly primitive desire to survive. Most of the time we also seem to want the easy life and we need to relax and feel safe. Some people never seem to relax and make us all nervous though don’t they? We are all social animals, we all want to get along and live in harmony so why do some people insist on rocking the boat? Some people are power crazy and hungry all the time for more. They don’t seem to feel any empathy for anyone. What can be done to control such people and make society and communities feel safer; more secure? (more…)

When I bought my car, coincidentally it was the same make and model as my neighbour’s car. It wasn’t envy that motivated me, I just needed a car and that one was for sale. People often envy their neighbour’s possessions and people are often envious of others who have more money. (more…)
