I popped down to Aldi last night. The Super Six this week are cucumbers, beetroot (500g), new potatoes (750g), tomatoes, radish (200g) and avocados. They are all 39 pence. They have some special buys today, but I didn’t see anything very exciting. The petrol powered hedge trimmer might be worth it. For computer and electrical goods check out Comet, they seem to have a few good offers now.
Today’s picture was taken at the top aqueduct in Wednesbury where I live. It was sunny a few evenings ago. The railings reflected well off the water. Have you noticed how much graffiti there is around the canals? That’s young people who are bored. I read this morning that an headmaster at a school is advising them to do all sorts of things. Do work at home, visit the sick and lonely, get a job and study… I assume while the kids are doing this, he will be watching his smart television, going out to a restaurant or maybe enjoying a barbecue in his expensively landscaped garden. It’s amazing how people with money and position in society, know what’s best for people who don’t have money and position.
Last week, I went to the historic vehicle show in Walsall Arboretum. I hope to take a few photos today too, but the weather is much like last week, sunny but rain forecast. It’s Olympics of course. I wonder what the athletes will talk about when they get home. There will be those that will be disappointed and the medal winners who will no doubt talk about it for the rest of their days. I rode my bike from here to Sutton Park a few times when I was young. I didn’t get a medal and you really don’t want to hear about it do you?
It’s Finance Friday and the Olympics start today. I am not a fan, too expensive for tax payers in a time of recession and austerity. We probably wouldn’t be in a recession if it wasn’t for all these jollies for the rich. So far this year in the UK there has been the Jubilee, Ascot, Henley, Wimbledon and a host of other champagne and strawberry events. I doubt if there will be much champagne at this one. I read a bottle of water is £1.60 ($2.50) and a small bottle (300ml) of Heineken lager is £4.20 ($6.50). Don’t have the plate of curry at £8.50 or you’ll need even more water! You can’t make it up…
