Investments | Death or Glory!

Money - Seeing the future

Premier Foods

Premier Foods went up for a third straight day on Tuesday, climbing 11.5 per cent to 17p after Investec Securities recommended the stock as a “death or glory” gamble. It has since fallen and is back at 16p but I’m happy with it’s progress. I bought at 4p last October and the “death or glory” description sums up my attitude not just to this investment, but to all my investments! Different people have different approaches to risk. Someone with a family to support would be more averse to risk than me. I only have myself to worry about and I take calculated risks. I have to admit, that it’s fun when it all goes right. (more…)

Money - Seeing the future

Buying in a bear market

When there are more sellers than buyers in the market, traders call it a bear market and when the buyers outnumber the sellers, they call it a bull market. This appears to be a bear market; but the government is buying back it’s bonds by ‘printing’ money. What will the financial institutions do with the new money they get from selling bonds? I think they are buying shares in the markets again but being very selective. I have bought shares in another company that is making a loss; the Royal Bank of Scotland Group. (more…)

Money - Seeing the future

Burning money

If you burn paper money, do you destroy it? The answer is technically, no. The value of money is all about supply and demand and so if you burn a 50 pounds note, a 50 dollar note or a 50 Euro note; you are decreasing demand and making all the rest of the  money in circulation more valuable. You may be destroying one note, but you aren’t destroying overall value! The Bank of England is currently doing the opposite, creating rather than destroying money but in doing so they are increasing demand and so making the money already in circulation less valuable. NIGHT 024

Aquarius

In the great Book of Life, answers cannot be found in the back. As keen as you are to get to the bottom of something or find a solution, you appear to have little option other than to let a situation unfold further before you can apply your Aquarian way of thinking to it. The fact you must play a waiting game could be the cause of current frustration. Relax and let an answer come to you instead of the other way round. (more…)

Bubble and squeak, eggs and g.beans

Money, emotions and belief

If you haven’t tried bubble and squeak it’s not hard to make. You just mash together some left over boiled potato with boiled white cabbage and mould into a shape and then fry it until golden brown. I put eggs on top of mine and served it up with green beans! Delicious! So what did it cost? The eggs are from caged hens and cost £1.25 for 15; so they are about 17p for 2 and the beans and bubble and squeak cost about 18p. I made a meal for 35p! It was nice too! (more…)
