The Sunday Ramble: weather; whatever
This year seems to have gone quickly, maybe because I’ve kept myself busy. I’ve been looking back through my library of photos, this one is from January 2013. Remember that snow? This year it was quite mild in January and we enjoyed lower heating bills. The price of petrol has come down this year too. (more…)
More snow hits the UK
It’s nearly Easter and we have more snow! It was the first day of Spring on Wednesday and just as you thought it was safe, the snow came again. The weather here is as unpredictable as the politics, but doesn’t it make life interesting? Getting around today is a little difficult, the bus station was closed.
Neodigital Art | Artistic editing
I can’t remember when I took this photo. I think it was the summer of 2011. I do remember having to take it through chain-link fencing. I have edited it again using PhotoScape using a watercolour option. It looks quite artistic now. (more…)
Neodigital Art | Editing snow photos
We have more snow, here in England and so I thought I would cover editing snow pictures a little more. I edited this this one with PhotoScape and used the option to make it look like a pencil drawing and added some text.
From psychology to nostalgia
Today’s picture is of Moorcroft Wood. It’s an interesting place to walk around. In the middle of the wood is a pool where people go fishing. The canal borders the woodland on two sides as well. The pool filled up with water when the snow melted and so you can take quite interesting photographs.
This weeks blogging review
The snow has kept on coming this week and at the time of writing, I’m expecting more. We do expect the weather to improve over the weekend though. I noticed a patch on my roof where the snow is melting, it’s over the hatch to the loft which isn’t insulated. Heat’s escaping! Have you looked at your roof?
Snow business review
I have to write this article in advance and schedule it, because we have snow! I don’t think I’ll be going out in it just yet, it’s still snowing; but maybe I’ll get more photographs when it finally stops. This picture was taken in the early hours with a slow shutter setting. (more…)
Thrifty | Shopping for bargains
Fish and chips
A leaflet dropped through my letterbox yesterday for a fish and chips shop. This is our national dish in Britain and the price was over five pounds! Ouch! My eggs, chips and peas cost about 60p! That’s a big difference, especially for a family with children. There is 20% VAT on fish and chips and they aren’t gluten free like my meal. Even the local bakery has recognised that many people now follow gluten free diets; shame the local supermarket doesn’t! (more…)
Thrifty Britain
I like egg ‘n’ chips and so being thrifty and frugal isn’t a problem for me, but some people are struggling in the current economic climate. (more…)
