Thrifty Thursday scrimping
The Aldi super-six this week are braeburn apples (6), mango, kiwis (8), plums (400g), pineapple and oranges (6). They are all 69p each. That’s the same as last week. On offer today are vegetable plug packs for 1.99. Its worth considering growing some veggies in the garden this year. Salad things like lettuces, spring onions, radishes and tomatoes are reasonably easy to grow.

Thrifty Thursday–saving even more money
The super-six at Aldi this week are; savoy cabbage, mild onions (3), beetroot (500g), lemons (3), carrots (1Kg) and broccoli (350g). They are all 39p each. I think I’ll have the broccoli, it is rich in vitamin C. Carrots contain beta carotene which is a double molecule of vitamin A, they’re very good for you too. Lemons are exceptionally high in vitamins C and great for making old fashioned lemonade.

We can afford more traffic calming
My local council is at it again, installing more bloody traffic calming at a cost of of £140,000. They cut services for disabled and vulnerable children and then to ‘protect’ children at this school, they spend a fortune on road humps. The mini roundabouts and chicanes didn’t work. Really?

Another week of creativity
I saw a council estate on TV last week where there was a lot of poverty and drug taking. The problems weren’t just lack of money, there was also a lack of nature. It needed green fields and they need trees to be planted. I also see lots of speed humps and traffic calming on the worst estates too.
