Today’s scenic picture was taken in Woden Road South. Wednesbury was named after the Anglo-Saxon God, Woden. We have four roads named Woden Road, North, South, East and West. Sunday ramble | Freshers week
Introduction
Students will be starting at university this week. I have been helping university students a little and I expect to do so again this year. If any students want my advice for this year, it is to write your papers or essays with the reader in mind. The lecturer or professor reading them will be impressed with a good layout, clear text and a font that they don’t have to squint to read.
Sandwell or Solihull?
Sandwell
The picture above was taken near my home in Wednesbury, which is part of Sandwell. Six towns make up Sandwell as part of local government reorganisation that made large Metropolitan Areas governed by Metropolitan councils. These were formed in 1974 and many people think it made things worse. Local government certainly became more ‘politically correct’. (more…)
Room 101
Room 101
If you’re not familiar with Room 101, it’s a television programme and celebrities vanquish all the things they dislike or hate to Room 101. My fellow bloggers will like this idea because they too can write Room 101 blogs and tell the world their dislikes and hates. Stupid People!
I took this photo in August, it looks very green compared to now. Beyond those trees is the technology college for kids aged 11 to 16 years old. Along the side of the lake is a road where people often drive quite fast. Then at the end a double roundabout, followed by a really stupid road narrowing. The roads are quite wide but the stupid people make them narrow to slow traffic past the technology college because these kids are too stupid to know how to cross the road. (more…)
