Imagine medieval knights trying to find their way through the English countryside. They might follow the river. This photo might not look too much like the river, I think it been made deeper here and canalised. I can now reveal that beyond those trees, ‘treasure’ was found once! (more…)
I didn’t have many new pictures last week, but this week I have lots! I went to photograph the switch on of the Christmas lights on Friday and got lots of photos. It took me 24 hours to thaw out afterwards though.
I lost a few of my pictures when my computer crashed, so I don’t have so many new pictures to choose from this week. The weather hasn’t been very good, but I have managed to take a few autumn photos. I have used the gradient border to make some photos look more artistic. Here I’ve used it to obscure some houses on the right of the picture, you can use that gradient on either side.
I described this building in yesterday’s blog as a church. It does look like a church! I zoomed in on that coat of arms over the door, it says Tipton free library. Oops, it’s a library. It doesn’t appear to be in use, though. That would be a shame for such an amazing building not to be used. That is typical of Victorian architecture, even though it was built at the beginning of the 20th century. (more…)
Sunshine at last
As I finished yesterday’s extraordinary blog, I noticed the sun shining; a welcome change from the dreary days of winter. It didn’t last long, it was soon overcast again as I cooked lunch, but the sun came out again later and I was determined not to miss the light. I needed a location that I could get to quickly. This is a favourite location because I get good pictures and it’s close by. You can see the effect of the winter sun, low in the sky casting shadows across the ground. Patterns make a photograph interesting. (more…)
I wanted the colours in this photograph to be more pastel, like a water colour. I might have overdone it. The water looks the wrong colour, that’s a canal on the right. I took this photograph yesterday, we have lots of canals and this one looked good, when I checked it out on Street view! (more…)
I took this photograph just before the rain came and so the light wasn’t very good. There was a heath and the pool, which I have looked for before, but it was hidden behind houses. I shall have to go back when it’s a brighter day. It’s interesting how much wildlife there was; the pool attracts pigeons, ducks and even swans. (more…)
