SNOW LAKE 034

The snow has kept on coming this week and at the time of writing, I’m expecting more. We do expect the weather to improve over the weekend though. I noticed a patch on my roof where the snow is melting, it’s over the hatch to the loft which isn’t insulated. Heat’s escaping! Have you looked at your roof?

This post was originally published on a zillion ideas on the 1st of January 2013.

LIVE EDIT

I start each blog with a photo and I used this one yesterday. I edited it with Windows Live photo gallery. The sun came out for this one and the blue sky is reflected on the water. The aperture was narrow, so good depth of field, but it wasn’t so good before editing.

THE SANNA -ART

I think this photograph is quite artistic, it was a good shot and then I edited it to try to get something artistic. This is the original picture:

Neodigital Art | Changing seasons

MONDAY 002

I took this photograph last October on a sunny day. You can see the colours changing and reflecting more light. The light was better in Autumn last year than we have had in summer this year. We have to be prepared for whatever nature decides to throw at us and make the most of it.

ORIGINAL

I took this photograph last Autumn and as you can see the sun was bright and reflected well off the Autumn colours. The picture looks dull though and so I can improve it a lot with editing. I used Windows Live Photo Gallery, it’s easy to use.

Neodigital Art | Editing tutorial

BEFORE EDIT

Neodigital Art is about using your computer to make something artistic; in my case from a photograph and so this means editing. I prefer Windows Live Photo gallery rather than the more complex Photoshop. I opened this photo in Windows Live Photo Gallery. I took this photo of the lake frozen over in December. The light was quite good and in the afternoon I had the light behind me. I was shooting down the lake rather than a cross it to get depth. The trees also add some depth to the picture. At the top of the page you can see an option to click to edit, organise or share; obviously I clicked edit. I chose this picture again. (more…)

motorway 005

I like the colours in this first photograph because they are muted Autumn colours. The light didn’t seem too good and my friend stayed in the car, he didn’t expect there to be good shots though! There are reds, browns and yellows in this photograph and even the black and white horse adds to the picture. (more…)

Photo edit

I’ve started this week with a screen shot to show the photo edit in Windows Live photo gallery. You can see all the tools you have for editing. I’ve cropped my photo for widescreen, increased the contrast, gave it more ‘highlights’ and increased the colour temperature adding warmth. I took this photo on Saturday with a wide aperture after the rain. (more…)

Neodigital Art | Update 24

Wide aperture

Berries

I’m getting technical this week because I switched my camera to A for aperture this week to take this shot. The depth of field was very short (the berries were close) and so I got the berries in focus and as a bonus I also got a spider’s web! (more…)

A Monday ramble…

Great Bridge 001

Photography

I’m tired of rain and dull days, but now winter is fast approaching I have to think of some different camera settings to get decent photographs. This photograph is of the local lake or pool and the colours will begin to change now as leaves fall from the trees and we get more red and yellows in photographs. I’m not looking forward to winter but last years photographs of the snow were quite good. (more…)

Gates

Gates

It took an hour to edit this picture of a pair of gates and I used Photoshop Elements, I’m not that pleased with it. It is a complex program though and so with practice I could get better using it. I’m using the 30 day trial and so have to decide whether to buy it. I can get a 20% discount on the full price! (more…)

Neodigital Art | Update 21

pylons in black and white

Black and White

It poured with rain on Friday and when it stopped we took a few photographs, this one shows the effect of bad light and a suitable subject. This was a demolition site and the water adds to the effect. I also did a sepia version of this photograph, but the black and white seemed to work better. As usual, I used Windows Live photo gallery for the editing. (more…)

THE LAKES - 19 JUNE 2011 042

I take most of the photographs that I use on my blogs and I used a photo very similar to this one on Monday. I call it Neodigital Art and  my artist friends recognise it as art. This photograph has been altered as usual and it is taking the photograph and manipulating it; that is the art. (more…)

To sleep, perchance to dream… II

Sketcher - HARTLEYS 1

Aquarius horoscope, Wednesday, 25/5/2011

Life is not all about work, but we have to do it. Try to find a way to make what you do more fun and interesting. The Sun in your creative zone aspects revolutionary Uranus. All it needs is a change in your thinking to bring you more enthusiasm, more playfulness and greater inquisitiveness. Mix this together and pure magic is possible.

I am a little creative today. That is my horoscope for today and I got a little inquisitive last night and took a few photographs for my Neodigital Art blogs. Andy Warhol did a screen print of a Campbell’s tomato soup can, amongst other things and so I had a go and started with a Hartley’s raspberry jelly. I did some more pictures but this one will do for a start. It’s more fun and interesting and I have some more close up pictures for my next blog about art. (more…)

Neodigital Art | Update Five

This was taken at Aberdaron in Wales.

I’ve started today’s blog with a photograph taken by Simon James at Lake Vyrnwy, Monmouthshire,Wales.  I’ve been there and I don’t remember that little castle. It looks cool though; I’ll have one of those built in my garden when I win the lottery.

I edited that picture; I cropped it to clearly show the castle and tried to bring out the texture of the stonework. (more…)

Wordpress - icons that help you format you blog

I’ve started this blog with a shot of part of my screen when I was editing my Neodigital Art update. I am writing this using Microsoft Word and I’ll paste it onto a screen like that later.  I obviously use WordPress.com and you can see I have three menus to choose from. The top menu from left to right is upload/insert and they are picture, video, music and then the icon that looks like the sun is media; this allows me to upload files for people to download. I haven’t done that yet. The circular one is a poll and finally a custom form. (more…)

Neodigital Art Update

Neodigital Art - A simple bridge can make an interesting picture

My first picture today was taken locally. You don’t normally have to travel far unless you live in the middle of a desert. This was just a bridge over a railway and I added some contrast and cropped the original picture. I think the blue railing make the picture look more interesting. (more…)
