Writing and photography
A lot of people think writing is easy, until they try it. You get writer’s block, lack of inspiration and then sometimes you read back what you’ve written and think it’s rubbish! Living life is the main inspiration for writers, doing stuff and then writing about it. I’m lucky I suppose, I’m at an age when lots has happened to me. So I have a little experience.
It is Monday, it must be psychology
I’ve been fascinated by psychology for many years and that’s the subject of my usual Monday blog post. I’ve been posting on WordPress and on A Zillion Ideas too; but that seems to be a waste. My WordPress blog has more subscribers though, so what can I do? I’ve decided to change it!
From psychology to nostalgia
Today’s picture is of Moorcroft Wood. It’s an interesting place to walk around. In the middle of the wood is a pool where people go fishing. The canal borders the woodland on two sides as well. The pool filled up with water when the snow melted and so you can take quite interesting photographs.
How to start a blog
If you want to start a blog, you have to think about a few things. You are going to be publishing articles and maybe photographs too. You can choose a number of ways to do it. I use WordPress but I have used Blogger. You also have to think about who will read your blog. Who will your articles appeal to?
Neodigital Art | more editing
I took this photograph last Autumn and as you can see the sun was bright and reflected well off the Autumn colours. The picture looks dull though and so I can improve it a lot with editing. I used Windows Live Photo Gallery, it’s easy to use.
My blogging journey so far
Many of my readers are also bloggers and so today I thought I would write about blogging. I started a few years ago on Blogspot, but WordPress is much better. I started this blog about 2 years ago and it has subscribers and the page views are into 7 figures. I have recently started a Zillion ideas and that’s making progress. One things I think I have done right is take a lot of photographs and use those in my blogs. I would consider doing things a little differently If I was doing it all again though. The different subjects was a good idea too, but I did make mistakes doing ‘pages’ on different subjects. I learnt from that mistake and avoided it on a zillion ideas.
How to write blogs
For the benefit of local readers, yes the picture is junction 9 of the M6 motorway. It was taken when there was a break in the rain! The traffic light were on red as usual. It is important when I write a blog to start it with something interesting, try to tease the reader to click the link to read the rest of the page. Are you teased enough yet? Maybe, I should mention sex? I mentioned testosterone in my blog on a Zillion Ideas today. That’s a sex hormone! That blog is about how our emotions affect our hormones and vice versa. (more…)
How to write a novel | perceptions
We all have different perceptions of our environment and of others. You write from your own particular viewpoint. I’ve given you another picture today, that might inspire you to be creative. Creativity can be a solitary pursuit, but it’s important to realise that you create for other people as well as yourself. You write, take photographs, create art, sing or dance. Others will have a perception of you based upon what you create, because it’s part of you; part of your personality. (more…)

A Sunday ramble

I wrote a blog while I was cooking Sunday lunch last week and I’m doing it again! The picture is of my kitchen; it seemed appropriate. People want to know what my kitchen looks like too, they are just nosey!

Manor House
My first picture today is the Manor House at West Bromwich. The light wasn’t very good, but I used a lot of Sunday’s pictures and the video clips to make the video I used in yesterdays blog. I was disappointed with the video, it displays full screen and it loses resolution; it’s better displayed smaller. I did embed it and the preview was good but then WordPress changed it to a link. A Sunday ramble in June…
I couldn’t decide on a photograph to begin this blog with. This one isn’t very exciting, but it is a favourite place to take photographs. I held the camera close to the water and took a few shots last time and the pictures are too dark but it made the waves look huge! I am waiting for a quiet day, perhaps a Sunday and good light. I have a quiet day but like on the day I took this photograph, it’s cloudy. (more…)
